CHADS2 and CHA2DS2-VASc risk scoring tools

This table shows the components of the CHADS2 (Gage et al., JAMA 2001) and CHA2DS2-VASc scores (Lip et al., Chest 2010) tools to assess stroke risk in patients with AF. These risk assessment tools help to determine who should and who should not receive anticoagulation.
CHA2DS2-VASc improves risk stratification in patients with CHADS2=0 or 1, and allows for identification of patients at truly low risk.
